Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why did I get a ticket? The facility where you parked has limited parking space, and the property's Rules and Regulations prohibit the storage of unidentified, unwanted, unpaid, or abandoned vehicles. The most common reason for violations is some type of nonpayment. Another common reason is using the wrong vehicle information to pay. When a person parking in the facility does not enter the correct information into the kiosk or software or does not use their hangtag or permit correctly, the vehicle is unidentified and wrongly in the facility, even if it is an honest mistake. Having vehicles in our facilities that are unidentified, unpaid, unwanted, or abandoned is a security problem. Honest mistakes can look like intentional actions in a security check, which is a significant issue. Premises with insufficient security features are more likely to be targeted for crimes. Ensuring the safety of everyone who uses the property is our top priority. We must take security enforcement seriously. We hope that getting a ticket once will increase your awareness, and we sincerely hope that you will not get another ticket ever again. Following the facility's Rules and Regulations, we do not dismiss tickets for patrons who make honest mistakes. It's important to note that we incur the cost of enforcement and security once the ticket is issued. Whether it's an honest mistake or an intentional action, the financial burden on our security team remains the same. ParKontrol, Ltd. monitors properties in multiple cities and has operated for three decades. ParKontrol still believes ticketing is a better option for illegal parking than towing due to the massive cost and time savings of retrieving ownership information for the tow yard rules and regulations to receive your vehicle back into your possession after impounding. Please be aware that if the Ticket is not paid on time, this violation will be forwarded to a debt collection agency for collection, which may result in further legal action against the Owner of the Vehicle.
I had a parking pass but it wasn't on the rearview mirror when I got the violation, could you just dismiss this ticket? No. A parking pass or permit must be properly displayed on the rearview mirror when in use. Our auditors take several pictures to assure that they have a complete record when they issue a ticket. We understand that many people have a "good excuse" but a good excuse is not a non-violation. Disputing can be a long and expensive process and not paying could lead to even higher costs or debt collection consequences. Unless the ticket is clearly wrong or you have strong evidence that you were not in violation, it may be more efficient to simply pay the ticket and pay it before any late fees apply.
I disputed my ticket 2 weeks ago; when will I know the outcome? This process may take anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks to complete. ParKontrol checks payment records and video surveillance records to verify violations before adjudicating tickets.
I disputed my parking ticket but haven't had a hearing yet, why does my record show a late fee? If you have disputed a parking violation, the late payment day count will be reset back to zero when your ticket is adjudicated. If your dispute is denied, you will have 7 more days to pay before the late fee is added back in. If there is no payment by 40 days, your account is turned over to a collection agency for collection. If your dispute is dismissed or you get a warning, there will be no payment due (no violation fee, no hearing fee, no late fee). Dismissals and Warnings are not common occurrences. Our auditing staff is skilled at identifying violations and taking pictures of the violations and the facts generally speak for themselves about whether or not there was a violation.
I have previous parking tickets attached to my record from other locations. Can I pay them all from ParkPaymentHub.com? Yes and no. Only violations/tickets issued from ParKontrol Ltd. can be paid from ParkPaymentHub.com. ParKontrol Ltd. only enforces private parking locations. Note that having more than one or two unpaid tickets in your ParKontrol record may result in your vehicle being Towed or Booted with full payment of all tickets required before your vehicles is released. Nonpayment of a ticket(s) can result in a lowered credit score that can come back to bite you in many ways in the future (for up to 7 years).
What if I have a good excuse for my violation? We understand that many people have a "good excuse" but a good excuse is not a non-violation. Disputing can be a long and expensive process and not paying could lead to even higher costs or debt collection consequences. Unless the ticket is clearly wrong or you have strong evidence that you were not in violation, it may be more efficient to simply pay the ticket and pay it before any late fees apply. Ticket costs are not just to recover the lost revenue to the business for unpaid parking. Ticket costs also include the administrative costs to audit a parking facility and other costs. We have found that a good auditing program results in much, much better security for the facility and fewer overall tickets because those with violations take greater care in the future to follow instructions regarding payment procedures. The cost of the land, pavement, lot cleaning, auditing, and other services related to parking facilities come directly out of the fees collected for parking. Parking lots are expensive to own and maintain.
